The Wild Things
I like Dave Eggers, and I'm a fairly monstrous fan of Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are, so I had high hopes for this pairing. I was disappointed however, not so much in how Eggers' told the story - I thought he was true to Sendak's voice and purposes - but in where he took it, or more to the point, that he didn't seem to take it anywhere. Doubtlessly, the movie will fare better, if only for the giant monsters and the awesome soundtrack. [ full review ]
